Autumn Edit – clothes

Last night as I was tidying up the sandpit and various toys hidden around the garden it was cold, really cold. And today we woke to the pink sunrise of a crisp, blue, clear sky day and dew on the grass. Autumn has arrived and we rugged up in extra layers for our morning outings. Hand knitted woolly jumpers, merino layers and woolly hats for the boys. Boots and lovely thin merino jumpers for me. Love the ones from Country Road. So, that got me thinking. How will I dress easily (and quickly) each morning. Time for an Autumn edit. It’s all about layers and warmth and easy wear with two little boys who will still want to get dirty while they have fun. Here’s a little edit from my pinterest board on my favourite clothing inspirations:   Black Skinnies and camel booties via here / Boden Anouk dress / Blue Oxford and layer necklaces via here Comfy All Stars via here / Long black evening skirt (this one is Chanel – love!) / leather clutch Blue …

Going with the flow

It’s 9.45pm and I am busy as a bee sorting emails for people buying some of our stuff (remember the simplifying our lives goal), and buying new cloth nappies for baby boy number 2, and organising my beautiful little sister’s Bridal Shower in a few weeks. And I really wanted to do a blog post and then read before I sleep. A hectic staccato bit of work in contrast to the quite subdued and calm afternoon we all had. It is really starting to feel like Autumn now. It has been a long time and felt really good. Even though the boys were really tired there was none of that usual evening crankiness. We had a slap-dash-what’s-in-the-fridge meal and it was quiet and just normal with no toddler behaviour. Nearly bliss – well not …

Little Loves

Things to remind me of the good life I have: I love …that my boys love picking rose petals and throwing them on their heads like rain. ….my boys long, long eyelashes. ….marmalade on toast. ….soft autumnal rain fall. ….picking from my vegetable garden. ….the smell of coffee. ….my bff (you know who you are!). ….dreaming and then creating. ….my new Bravado nursing bra – it is the best! ….the Diana Gabaldon Outlander series (hooked for a second time and now it’s on tv!). …that my eldest has made the transition to kindy (cold and all) ok. …watching the trees change colour. ….these dumplings. ….illustrations by Garance Doré . Love to know your current faves.

Sacred Spaces

It is the middle of February and it is feeling very autumnal already. The trees are starting to turn, new apples and pears are hanging from our trees and nature is starting to turn inward again. This is a good time to review and renew my sacred spaces. So that I have places to go when I need to turn inward during the cold months to come. Sacred spaces are those places in my life that are just for me. With motherhood comes great change and this includes places that were once “mine” now becoming for the kids too. The pantry was once lovely and organised and easy to use and now it is organised to keep the children safe and the food (or appliances) out of reach – so it is not as efficient as it could be. Bits of our house have safety latches on them, things I would like to have on show are away or out of reach and there is a multitude of children’s things (books, toys, nappies, clothes) that are …
